Start a ConversationDesign Collective was founded in Barbados by Nicole Hall, Beverley Akcayli and Vanessa Delany — three Caribbean women whose friendship has spanned two decades and whose individual strengths naturally grew into one creative vision. We believe that a well-considered space can change the way people live, gather, work and feel.
We met in Barbados more than 20 years ago. All three of us came from different parts of the Caribbean, each bringing our own experiences, tastes, careers and point of view. What began as friendship grew through years of shared conversations, homes, ideas, celebrations, travel, work and a mutual appreciation for spaces that feel considered and full of character.
Over time, we realised that the very things we had always enjoyed doing together — imagining possibilities, solving practical problems, sourcing beautiful pieces, refreshing rooms, rethinking layouts and helping others make confident decisions — could become something more.
Design Collective was born from that natural chemistry. It is not simply a design business; it is the meeting point of three complementary strengths, guided by trust, friendship and a shared objective: to make people’s spaces lovely.
Our approach is warm, practical and personal. Whether we are refreshing one room, furnishing a new home, coordinating a renovation, preparing a property for sale or managing the many details that bring a project together, we treat every space as though it matters — because it does.

Nicole brings an intuitive design eye and a natural feel for proportion, colour, texture and balance. Her strength lies in seeing the possibility within a space and shaping it into something cohesive, elegant and inviting. With a thoughtful approach to both aesthetics and practicality, Nicole helps define the visual direction of each project and ensures that every detail feels intentional.
A career hotelier, business owner and experienced administrator, Beverley brings more than 30 years of expertise in hospitality management, operations, procurement, marketing and client relations. She understands how thoughtful design, practical functionality and attentive service work together to create memorable spaces and experiences. Her strong organisational skills, sourcing expertise and exacting standards help guide each project smoothly from the initial idea through to completion.
Vanessa brings a thoughtful design eye and a strong talent for procurement, sourcing furnishings, finishes, fabrics and distinctive pieces that bring each scheme together. With an instinct for transformation, presentation and visual refinement, she understands how to balance beauty, quality, practicality and budget. Her perspective helps ensure that every selection feels cohesive, considered and right for the client.
We are Caribbean women, long-time friends and creative collaborators. We know that luxury is not simply about expense — it is about care, proportion, comfort, detail and the feeling a space gives you when you walk through the door.
